Greg Ambroisine is a German-based trumpeter, director, educator and composer who has performed his music worldwide. Ambroisine was born in Sydney and moved to Melbourne after beginning his music studies. After graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts, Ambroisine traveled throughout Canada and Germany as a professional jazz musician. During this time he performed with trumpeter Maarcus Belgrave (Ray Charles, Charles Mingus, Motown Records, Tribe Records, Blue Note Records) and legendary drummer Richard „Pistol“ Allen.

The duo Phinnamon stands for music in its most concentrated form: voice and piano, reduced to the essentials. Winnie Brückner and Philipp Cieslewicz play songs that move them—ranging from Radiohead, Soundgarden, and the Punch Brothers to selected jazz standards and original compositions.

At the heart of their performance is spontaneous, shared creation in the moment. The two approach each piece attentively, with a deep sensitivity for sound, text, and atmosphere. Familiar songs are heard anew, musical lines unfold freely, and the openness of their interplay continuously reveals fresh nuances.

This reduction shapes the duo’s overall sound: clear, intimate, and transparent. Voice, piano, and the acoustic space enter into a close dialogue—sometimes delicate and restrained, sometimes powerful and intense, but always marked by closeness and presence.

The name Phinnamon—derived from Philipp and Winnie and inspired by the word “cinnamon”—symbolizes warmth, tone color, and an unassuming presence. Chamber-music precision merges with improvisational openness, melancholy with groove, and clarity with depth.

Tonight featuring Declan Forde.

Declan Forde is a Scottish pianist, originally from Glasgow, who has been a vital part of Berlin’s Jazz scene since 2014. His music explores the delicate balance between tradition and innovation, blending a deep reverence for the history of improvised music with daring explorations into the unknown. Forde’s performances are known for their dynamic range, shifting from intricately melodic to provocatively disruptive. His music often defies easy categorisation, yet it is always infused with humour and joy that challenge expectations of what Jazz can be.

A regular solo performer, Forde was invited by the Berliner Festspiele to contribute to Rashid Johnson’s installation Antoine’s Organ at the Gropius Bau in 2019. From 2015 to 2024, he co-curated the concert series Practically Married at Donau115 with bassist James Banner, a venue hailed by The Guardian as one of the best Jazz clubs in Europe. The series will resume in July 2025 at Sowieso (Berlin). The duo has released seven recordings to date, including the eponymous Practically Married (2023), recorded directly to analogue tape at Emil Berliner Studios by Guy Sternberg, and most recently a live recording with Han Bennink and Tobias Delius.

Karin Peters studied school music with a major in jazz vocals at the Detmold University of Music (HfM Detmold) from 2013 to 2017. During this time, she gained valuable experience in music education and became a member of the award-winning vocal ensemble Pop-Up and the vocal ensemble of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Germany (Bundesjazzorchester), performing in concerts and competitions both domestically and internationally. Her travels with these ensembles took her to Denmark, Turkey, and Ecuador, among other places. Over these years, she participated in various CD productions and studio recordings. She is a member of the fusion band Sebastian Müller Band and spent years as a mezzo-soprano in the a cappella ensemble Valerie. To further deepen her musical training, she studied jazz/pop vocals with Anette von Eichel at the Cologne University of Music and Dance (HfMT Köln) from 2017 to 2020, while working freelance as a singer, vocal coach, and choir director alongside her studies.

Since November 2020, she has been teaching jazz, pop, and soul vocals at LKMS, focusing on body awareness, phrasing, and articulation, as well as imparting a healthy and natural vocal technique.

Marie Séférian is one of the most esteemed European jazz singers; she has been winning over audiences and critics alike for years with her charisma, voice and well thought-out musical concepts. Growing up in a musical household, she began playing the violin at the age of three, later adding piano and singing. She studied at the Jazz Institute in Berlin and has received several awards during her career, including a scholarship from the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation and first prize at the Berlin Jazz Prize. She is now a busy soloist and jazz educator, works with various ensembles worldwide and teaches at workshops and various renowned institutes, including the Berlin University of the Arts.

Danielle Friedman is an Israeli pianist, composer, and improviser, currently based in Berlin.

Musically and geographically, she crosses and transcends borders, bringing together different influences. Her music flows between Jazz, Classical, and lyrical as well as rhythmic free improvisation, riddled with imagination.

Friedman has lived and performed across the three continents she has called home. Her own projects include the Danielle Friedman Trio, Tangerine, and Casa No Mundo, and she also regularly performs as a collaborator with artists and acts such as King Josephine, Lisa Hoppe’s YSOP and Maura MoC, among others.

Miriam Netti is a talented Italian-born jazz singer, composer, and lyricist, whose musical journey has taken her across Europe. Born and raised in Puglia, Italy, Miriam has carved out a niche for herself within the jazz world, blending her Mediterranean roots with a modern, soulful jazz style that resonates deeply with audiences. Currently based in Berlin, she has embraced the city’s rich and diverse music scene, using it as a base to expand her artistic vision.

Over the years, Miriam Netti has released six albums, showcasing her range not only as a vocalist but also as a composer and lyricist. Each of her projects is marked by her ability to tell stories through evocative melodies and heartfelt lyrics, whether interpreting jazz standards or creating original compositions.

The music of the Italian-German band “…e la luna?” reflects the diversity of Italian canzoni from the past 50 years: it’s all about l’amore in its various facets, with music that is sometimes romantic, sometimes danceable and rousing.
